Clean SweepOn April 9th we put on a clean sweep at Austin High. A clean sweep is done through Keep Austin Beautiful. It is a competition to see who can pick up the most trash in the two hour time period. Winners are decided by weight of trash. They have over 160 sites, and you can sign up on the Keep Austin Beautiful website. You can also donate to help them pay to provide cleaning supplies at their clean sweeps. Another way to get involved is by "adopting a street" where it is your job to make sure that your "adopted" street is always clean. If you want to do something smaller however, you can contact Keep Austin Beautiful and be in charge of a clean sweep. At the clean sweep, you would be handing out shirts to volunteers, signing them in, weighing the trash and giving out prizes. there are a lot of ways to get involved!

TGPLANTGPLAN is the project that my group was assigned that lead us to conduct our clean sweep. It stands for Think Globally Plan Locally and Act Neighborly. It is conducted through the Academy for Global Studies (AGS) at Austin High School. If you are interested in coming to see us present our project, come to Austin High School on April 20th from 6:15 PM to 8:15 PM. We will be talking about water pollution and how we took action in much more depth. We hope to see you then!
